What To Look For In Week One In The NFL

What to look for in the first fantasy football game of the season: The offenses of the Lions, Eagles and Patriots look to erupt early as players all around the country prepare for the first fantasy football game of the season.

The Lions go up against the Rams meaning that Matt Stafford and Calvin Johnson could get off to really quick fantasy starts.

LeSean McCoy and the Eagles take on a beleaguered Browns defensive unit that ranked 30th against the run last season and should be playing from behind most of the game.

Tom Brady and his slew of targets descend upon Tennessee to take on the Titans, who lost the best thing they had going for them in the secondary, corner Courtland Finnegan to the Rams in the offseason.

So for those teams and the fantasy players own players from those teams, expect a quick start.

On the flip side, reconsider Tony Romo and Peyton Manning in the first fantasy football game of the season if they’re on your team. Romo will be going against a ferocious Giants pass rush, on the road with two dinged up wide receivers (Miles Austin missed the whole preseason with a hamstring injury and Dez Bryant just had a boot taken off of his foot) and his tight end Jason Witten may not play at all with his spleen injury.

It may seem enticing to play Peyton in his first fantasy football game in over a year, but resist. Aside from the fact that he may be a little rusty (this is a guy who never missed a start 13 seasons before last season), but his welcome back party is against the Pittsburgh Steelers, who besides having a reputation for great defense, actually finished first in the league in passing defense last season.

There will be days to start for both Manning and Romo in your Fanduel line-up, just not this Sunday.
